The 5D Mark III is aimed at the semi-pro and professional photographers who desire a lightweight, weather-proof construction, outstanding image quality and impressive levels of speed. The 5D Mark III features a high-resolution 22.3MP CMOS sensor and Canon's powerful DIGIC 5+ processor to achieve a lightning fast frame rate of 6 frames per second. A 61-point AF system (41 cross-types) and an expandable ISO range from 50-102,400 ensures both static and fast moving subjects can be captured, even in dimly lit environments. The 5D Mark III can also record Full HD 1080p movies with stereo sound and full manual control, and the 3.5mm mic and headphone socket allows audio monitoring while recording.
November 2012 - I am a full time professional wedding photographer. I shoot with a combination of cameras, notably the Fuji X-Pro1 and the 5D range of cameras from Canon. The 5D2 was the first full frame body I owned and I ended up working my way through three of them. So, when the 5D3 was announced I was really quite excited about it. Canon 5D Mark III hands-on video
We caught up with David Parry at Focus 2012 to find out a little more on the Canon 5D Mark III.
Full-frame 22.3-megapixel sensor
Capture high-quality images that are full of detail with a 22.3 megapixel CMOS sensorand DIGIC 5+ image processor. Colours are bright but natural, and fine detail is preserved even in dark shadow areas and bright highlights.
High-quality performance, even in low light
The EOS 5D Mark III delivers superb picture quality whatever the lighting conditions. Keep shooting hand-held even after the sun goes down, thanks to an ISO 100– 25,600 sensitivity range (extendable from ISO 50 - 102,400).
61-point wide-area autofocus
Focus quickly and accurately, even on offcentre subjects, with a 61 point wide-areaautofocus system. 41 cross-type points(five of which are extra sensitive double crosstype) ensure highly accurate tracking of moving objects.
Without the Canon 600EX-RT flashgun (or E3-RT Transmitter) installed on the camera you can’t wirelessly control another flash. To control a slave from the 5D Mark III, or any other EOS camera for that matter, you will need a master of some sort on the hot shoe (either a 600EX-RT or a ST-E3). Full support of the 600EX with the 5D MK III means that you get full control of the flash using the LCD. And full support of AF assist – the 600EX has support for all the focus points of the 5D MK III. The 5D MK III does not feature a built-in flash.
High-speed continuous shooting
Keep up with the action at 6 frames per second, recording up to 16,270 continuous JPEG images to a UDMA mode 7 card in a single burst.
With the new Creative Photo button you have quick and easy access to HDR image creation, Multiple Exposure and 7 pre-set Picture Styles with the ability to create 3 more user defined styles.
Full-HD video with manual control
Enjoy high quality Full HD video at 1080p resolution. Use manual controls and Canon’s comprehensive EF Lens range to achieve cinematic visual effects.
Great quality sound
Give your video footage the soundtrack it deserves. The EOS 5D Mark III records digital stereo sound at 48KHz and offers manual control over audio level. A standard 3.5mm mic socket enables the use of thirdparty microphones; a headphone socket permits audio monitoring while recording.
In-camera editing functions
Begin your digital editing workflow before you arrive back home. Rate your images on a scale of one to five and compare two images simultaneously on screen. Use in-camera Raw processing to explore creative possibilities – such as black & white conversion and retrospective white balance.
Built to go anywhere
A magnesium chassis provides strength and durability without adding weight. Weather sealing offers protection against dust and moisture.

Can I repay early? If so how?
No repayments are scheduled in the initial six-month deferral period. However, it is possible to pay off the loan, either by way of a lump sum or in smaller amounts. If the loan is fully repaid within the six-month deferral period, then no interest is payable, but a £29.00 early-settlement will be incurred. Such repayments may be made to Barclays Partner Finance by cheque, debit card or standing order. Unfortunately it is not possible to set up a direct debit within the deferral period. Further information on how to make such repayments will be set out in the loan agreement pack provided by Barclays Partner Finance.
What happens if I don't repay within the first six months (deferral period)?
Following the six month deferral period, Barclays Partner Finance will initiate a monthly direct debit payment for the remaining duration of the loan. Interest will be charged at a rate of 19.9% APR on outstanding balances (backdated to the first date of the loan). Late payment penalties and early repayment charges will apply from this point. Barclays Partner Finance will send a reminder letter approximately one month before the six month deferral period is due to elapse. Note: If you chose to spread the cost and pay monthly, interest is charged from the start of the loan, not from the start of the repayment period.
What will I receive from the finance provider (lender)?
Barclays Partner Finance will send a loan agreement pack approximately four weeks after delivery of the goods, confirming that the account has been activated and, from this point, it is possible to make repayments against the loan.
