Wednesday 20th November 2013, 10.30-4.30pm. Do you enjoy 3D cinema? Would you like to be able to shoot and print your own still versions, needing only a pair of inexpensive (red-cyan) paper glasses to see the results? Using anything from smartphones to sophisticated DSLRs, and Photoshop, it's possible to create photographs that contain that extra dimension. This fascinating new workshop offers a chance to learn all aspects of this specialist image creation technique - from the action of capturing the image with the camera through to editing and printing your own 3D images taken during the day! Surprise yourself and your friends with the amazing three-dimensional pictures that you can produce.

The courses are usually restricted to groups of 15-18 delegates ensuring in-depth and highly focused tuition across the wide range of the photographic subjects. A full buffet lunch with frequent beverages is included (all dietary requirements can be catered for - please mention special requirements when booking).

Course Agenda

  • Introductory Talk - An illustrated brief history of 3D and an explanation of how this method works
  • Shooting - A practical workshop showing which subjects and images are best depicted and how to photograph them
  • Photoshop - Downloading and converting the files, using layers, levels, curves and cloning tools. Previous experience with Photoshop is helpful, but not necessary. Comprehensive instruction of all the techniques involved will be covered
  • Printing - Printing the final images from the 3D composite files
  • Extra - If there is time, more detailed information to make your 3D images even better!

As well as tuition, the course fee includes a pair of 3D viewers for each person to view the glory of your very own final 3D image.

About the tutor:
Ethel Davies has been a professional 2D travel photographer for almost 30 years. Ethel turned her hand to shooting in three-dimensions a decade ago, and has been taking pictures in both formats ever since. She received her MA in Digital Art in 2010 and has had three one-person shows of her anaglyphs in the past two years. The website features her images from around the world.
