The elegant design of the L2 bears the classic Billingham hallmarks outside and in: Leather trim, fine workmanship, premier materials and evocative vintage styling. Sized to fit a small DSLR or mirrorless camera system with a pair of lenses and accessories, the L2 is an eminently simple camera bag, ideal for those travelling light on day-excursions. The main internal compartment features an integrated padded insert and there are two side compartments for additional lenses as well as two pockets for smaller articles. The zipless design of the top makes for easy access and the lower parts of the bag are reinforced with leather for additional strength. For those desirous of more space, the L2 accepts Billingham's auxiliary AVEA side pockets.
Travel light, travel safe
The L2 is a perfectly sized bag if you just need to carry a small SLR or mirrorless camera system with a couple of lenses and want to keep things simple. It has been designed without zips for simplicity and with an integral padded insert with Velcro fitted dividers, leaving you free to adapt the interior to your equipment or your exact needs for a particular assignment. For added security or comfort, you can add a Waist Strap Attachment to keep the L2 closer to you.
Keeping it simple - no zips, unique side flaps
Unique to the L2 is the way its extended sides are integrated into the main flap so that they fold inward when it closes to further protect your gear from the elements. Using the L2 couldn’t be easier - because it has no zips, you simply open the bag using the Quick Release System straps 3 and all your gear is at your fingertips. The L2 features the main compartment with its integrated padded insert, two further, wide internal pockets one at the front and the other at the rear. If you need more space, the L2 has leather side fittings at both ends designed to accept AVEA side pockets. For added strength, Billingham have reinforced the lower sides with more leather and extended it part-way along the underside to provide extra protection and more rigidity. Finally, as yet another line of defence, brass feet are riveted to the thick leather corners to keep the underside of the bag dry.
Designed for Life
The protection provided by a soft bag comes about through the careful use of closed-cell foams and the inherent pliability of the Billingham StormBlock canvas. SuperFlex inserts keep cameras and lenses protected and separated from each other. We have designed them in such a way that they simply move out of the way when pushed, allowing the bag to mould itself to the wearer's shape. Stiffening and shape are given to the bag by the way we cut and stitch the material so that they naturally hold their shape.
Billingham cut the panels to take advantage of the material's ability to withstand the stresses inflicted on it by the weight of cameras and passage of time. Not only are our bags strong and durable, they are also genuinely soft and will mould snugly to your body.
The materials used in the Billingham bags
Billingham choose the very best materials and use them in a way that takes maximum advantage of their natural properties, then manufacture the product to precise quality standards. That's why Billingham bags have solid brass fittings, top-grain leather, the best threads and fittings and a reputation for quality products.
As well as working closely with suppliers to improve each aspect of a material's performance, Billingham also co-operate with them to ensure that every delivery of material to their workshop meets exacting quality specifications. They are are members of SATRA, an international organisation who help us ensure the materials and production methods we use result in the highest quality products. Hard wearing materials can be abrasive and sometimes damage clothing, so our canvas has been chosen to avoid these problems.
The UK can be a pretty wet place much of the time, so it isn't surprising that Billingham bags started life being very resistant to rainwater. In a recent Maeser test, Billingham Stormblock Canvas was first aged and then flexed in water over 100,000 times. There was no sign of water ingress and the canvas was defined as waterproof, so confirming our confidence in the material as suitable for production.
