The replacement to the good old G9 has arrived in the shape Canon PowerShot G10, the new flagship camera of the PowerShot series. The first G-series Canon digital compact to offer a 5x wide-angle zoom (28mm) with optical Image Stabiliser, the Canon G10 also offers a massive 14.7 megapixels and Canon’s new DiG!C 4 image processor. According to Canon, the PowerShot G10 gives you “the power to excel”.
The wide-angle capabilities of the Canon PowerShot G10 combined with its strong telephoto zoom lens mean that a variety of shooting situations sit comfortably within this camera’s remit. Whether you fancy taking it out on the open range of a sunnier clime to capture the distant mountains and dusty plains, or you want to venture into the murky British Autumn and get a detailed close up of your favourite spider lounging in its web, the Canon G10 will do your shots proud. Canon’s optical image stabiliser ensures that your images are blur-free throughout the entire zoom range and the improved 4-stop advantage offers further enhanced performance.
Canon PowerShot G10
The aforementioned 14.7 megapixels makes the Canon G10 the highest resolution PowerShot model to date, which when combined with the outstanding processing speeds of DiG!C 4, gives you images of outstanding detail with very little noise. As such, images taken on the Canon G10 are more than suitable for extensive cropping and printing in sizes up to A2.
Features such as i-Contrast which brings out the detail in dark areas and the camera’s comprehensive anti-blur solution mean that the power of the PowerShot G10 is certainly a force to be reckoned with on the compact camera market. Canon PowerShot G10 User Reviews
Bought this as a Christmas/birthday present for my husband, who's usual camera is a Canon 50D but who wanted something smaller to carry around for quick but high quality shots. The Canon PowerShot G10 hasn't disappointed - amazingly powerful and high definition zoom, very light and easy to use. Makes me almost wonder why we carry around so much expensive and heavy photographic kit (I have a Canon 450D and between us we have several kg of zoom and prime Canon lenses). All in all, would thoroughly recommend the PowerShot G10. - Hamishjcb
I have used Canon film and digital SLR's for many years and was keen to add a 'point and shoot' compact camera to my equipment bag. I chose the PowerShot G10 for the superb functionality that is offers and I have to say that it does not disappoint. The build quality is the best I have seen on a compact camera and many SLR's for that matter. The functionality offered is almost identical to a mid range Canon DSLR and includes a flash mount... - Daniel
