Wex Photographic Staff Photo Competition

WEX’s Got More Talent!

Following on from April's successful launch of the photographic competition for Wex Photographic employees, our talented staff once again put finger to shutter for May's competition. This time a theme was provided, and submissions were invited under the title of "Wild Water", mirroring the WEX Gallery online competition for Wex Photographic forum members.

Once again entries came from all corners of the business, proving that photography is the lifeblood that flows through the veins of Wex Photographic, and that our staff, even if they keep their photographic talents to themselves a lot of the time, are the beating heart.

Getting rapidly to the point then, the winner of May's round of the Wex Photographic Staff Photo Competition is.....

Alasdair Cockburn from the Wex Photographic Contact Centre in Norwich!

Alasdair Cockburn - Barrier Reef Swim Through

The muted colours of the shot, the graphic shapes and shades, and the alternative interpretation of the “Wild” theme all drew praise from the judges and make Alasdair's photograph a deserving winner of this round.

Honourable mentions this month go to Alex in the eCommerce team who only missed out on the top spot by the narrowest of margins. The judges were particularly fond of the painterly quality of Alex's shot.

Alex - Freezing cold in the Gulf of Finland

As with last months competition, the high quality of all the photographs submitted made the judging process extremely difficult, and even with the shortlist put together there was a good deal of argument and debate involved in choosing the winner, so congratulations again to Alasdair Cockburn.

June's competition will once again mirror the theme of the WEX Gallery with the Wex Photographic staff being invited to submit photographs under the theme of "Close-up". As always we look forward to bringing you the results next month, but in the meantime here are some of the judges other favourite images from May's competition.

Katharina Beniers - The Franz Josef glacier, New Zealand

Natasha Davis - Becky Falls, Dartmoor

Anna Paton - Somewhere on the South Island, New Zealand

Roger Horsnell - Kite surfer
