Canon has revealed the EOS 1300D, an update on the 1200D that now offers Wi-fi connectivity
Canon’s new release, the EOS 1300D is aimed squarely at those taking their first steps in DSLR photography.
Much like its predecessor, the EOS 1200D, the EOS 1300D comes sporting an 18MP CMOS sensor and a maximum native ISO ceiling of 6400, expandable to 12,800. It can also shoot at a maximum burst rate of three fps and capture Full HD movies. These can then be assembled into montages using Video Snapshot. Video clips can be a maximum length of 29 minutes 59 seconds.
The EOS 1300D is billed as the ideal gateway into the EF lens system
The EOS 1300D upgrades from the DIGIC 4 processor on its predecessor to the DIGIC 4+, which should see operation speed improve. Also new are the improved connectivity options, with the EOS 1300D offering Wi-fi and NFC connections for fast image transfer and remote shooting with a compatible smart device. This should make it a much more versatile and enticing camera for social media users.
Increased connectivity options make the 1300D a more versatile photographic tool, especially for social media users
The 1300D also features 9-point AF, and a 920k-dot 3-inch LCD screen which comes with a built-in feature guide to help new users navigate the menus with ease.
Canon has also included a wealth of tools to help the novice shooter get to grips with the camera. Scene Intelligent Auto mode is designed to take care of as many settings as possible, while Creative filters allow users to add a distinctive look to their images in-camera – a feature that usefully pairs with the built-in Wi-fi for instant social sharing.
Wex is offering the Canon EOS 1300D in a bundle with the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 IS II Lens, which is the perfect lens for the new DSLR user. Its acclaimed image stabilisation technology offers a four-stop advantage, meaning users can take pictures at slower shutter speeds without needing a support such as a tripod, and therefore have more options in low light. The focal range is ideal for beginners, and the close focusing distance of 0.25m makes it also a good choice for close-up work.
