A versatile APS-C DSLR, the Canon EOS 80D offers fast continuous shooting and a comprehensive, responsive AF system
Equipped with a 24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor and a 7,560-pixel RGB+IR metering sensor, the Canon EOS 80D is primed to deliver crisp and accurate exposures.
It has a sensitivity range of ISO 100-16,000, and a Flicker Detection function to provide consistent exposure even under inconsistent lighting.
The 7 fps continuous shooting mode and the 45-point all-cross-type AF system should make the EOS 80D a good choice for action shooters, with Canon promising a high degree of focusing accuracy.

On the rear of the EOS 80D there’s an Intelligent Viewfinder with 100% frame coverage and settings overlay, while the large 7.7cm vari-angle LCD touch screen can be used to compose and shoot action with live view, using continuous autofocus.
The EOS 80D also shoots Full HD 60p movies with a choice of frame rates for slow motion, with the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system providing a reliable way of tracking moving subjects. Videographers can also create special effects in-camera, with additional modes including Timelapse Movie, HDR and Creative Filters.
Remote shooting is possible via NFC and Wi-fi connectivity – simply get the Camera Connect app onto your smartphone or tablet and you’re good to go. You can even shoot from your Mac or PC via EOS Utility software.
EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
Also announced today is the new Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, a versatile wide-angle zoom that’s well-suited for travel.
Nano USM technology allows the lens to focus smoothly and quietly, making it well-suited for movies as well as stills. Canon’s 4-stop Optical Image Stabilizer technology counteracts camera-shake for steady handheld results in low light, and features a panning mode for tracking moving subjects.
For movies, there’s also Dynamic Image Stabilizer, which counteracts extreme movements as well as camera-shake, allowing for smoother footage when shooting handheld.
The optical design of the lens features ultra-low-dispersion and aspherical lens elements with Super Spectra coating, to reduce flare and ghosting.
Available as an optional extra for the lens is the Power Zoom Adapter PZ-E1, which provides smooth, slider-based, fingertip zoom control when shooting movies.
Powered by AAA batteries, the PZ-E1 can also be wirelessly controlled via Wi-fi using the Canon Camera Connect app. It also offers several different zoom speeds for different types of shot transition.
