Canon Technology Announcement — EOS R3
Alongside the trio of new lenses, Canon also announced the development of a brand new professional mirrorless camera, the EOS R3. With limited information available at this stage, here are four things you need to know:
High quality at high speed
The EOS R3 features a brand new 35mm back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor and a powerful DIGIC X processor, allowing for high-speed photography and filmmaking. The R3 delivers 30fps with AF/AE tracking, making it an ideal solution for sports photographers.
Tracking of fast-moving action
The EOS R3's next-generation Dual Pixel CMOS AF can track subjects’ eyes, heads and bodies moving quickly to allow for detailed captures in a split second. Canon has also revealed that it will add 'a new subject' to the R3's AF tracking.
AF control with the eye
The EOS R3 is the first EOS digital camera to feature the ground-breaking Eye Control Function, an improved technology first seen in the EOS 5. Eye Control Function enables users to select and move the AF point using the eye, offering a more natural and speedy control.
The EOS R3 features a sturdy, professional build to deliver the same durability, dust and water resistance as the EOS-1D series that inspired its design. The R3 also features the same integrated grip as the EOS-1D series, allowing for increased control and battery life.
