This new Micro Nikkor is Nikon’s first DX macro lens, designed for entry-level digital SLR owners who want to jump into the world of macro photography. Just like the Nikon 35mm f1.8G AF-S DX lens released recently, the new 85mm f3.5 AF-S VR DX lens is tailored perfectly to beginners needs.
Nikon 85mm f3.5 AF-S VR DX Micro Nikkor Lens
The Nikon 85mm f3.5 AF-S VR DX lens features a Silent Wave Motor (SWM), so it’ll autofocus with all Nikon digital SLRs, including models without an in-body AF motor (D3000, D5000, D60, D40, D40x).
Because the lens is designed for the DX format, casting a smaller image circle than a full-frame lens, its light (just 355g) and compact (9.85cm long x 7.3cm diameter). The portable design brings another benefit; the filter thread size is 52mm, so you can use the same filters with an 18-55mm kit lens.
The second generation Vibration Reduction (VR II) allows you to capture sharp images at shutter speeds up to 4 stops than a non-VR lens. This is handy for dim lighting conditions and hand-held macro photography.
The 85mm f3.5 VR’s minimum focus distance is 28.6cm, allowing a life-size 1:1 magnification. The optical performance is guaranteed with Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass and out of focus areas are smooth & pleasing to the eye thanks to the 9 aperture blades which form a rounded diaphragm.
