Photokina is the world's biggest photographic and imaging trade show. It is being held in the Cologne Exhibition Centre, the Kölnmesse, from September 21st to the 26th, and a team from Wex Photographic have travelled to Germany to see what new and exciting products are being announced and on display at Photokina.
For the benefit of any of you that are interested in the Photokina happenings, but didn't want to travel to Germany, weren't able to go to Germany, or, like some of us, had to stay behind and work while your colleagues went to Germany, we will be updating you with all the latest goings-on via the WEX blog and Twitter. What's more, in an exciting new venture for WEX, we will be bringing you a visitor's-eye view of some of the stands and products in the form of WEX TV video clips!
So, keep coming back to the WEX blog and we'll update you with the latest information, news and videos as they come in.
The Sony Alpha A55 digital camera
The Sony Alpha A55 and A33 cameras were given a full blog post of their own when they were announced last month, such was the importance of their new technology. The Semi Translucent Mirror design may require a whole new category of camera to be created, but is certainly destined to change the way manufacturers approach the use of mirrors in interchangeable lens cameras.
In this video the Wex Photographic team visit the Sony trade stand at Photokina and talk to Sony's Paul Genge about the Alpha A55 camera and its exciting new technology, including the semi-translucent mirror, and ask some questions that WEX's Twitter followers want answered.
The Sony NEX VG10 interchangeable lens camcorder
For years Sony's camcorders have been used by professionals, enthusiasts and amateurs alike for their superb technology, fantastic image quality, robust build and convenience of use. Taking their lead from their own NEX range of compact system cameras, Sony are once again pushing at the boundaries of digital video with the NEX VG10 camcorder.
In this video the Wex Photographic team once again talk to Sony's Paul Genge, this time about the new NEX VG10 interchangeable lens camcorder. Paul talks about Sony's continued presence at the cutting edge of camcorder development and how the VG10 can be used with Sony's E-mount lenses, and even their Alpha mount lenses (via an adapter) for incredible optical performance in HD video.
