Watch what happens when 12 Xperia Z5 Compacts are put together on a 3D-printed rig to make a 360° video on the slopes of the Alps
In an impressive bid to show off what its Xperia Z5 Compact smartphone can do, Sony has strapped 12 of them together in a custom 3D-printed rig to produce a fully interactive 360° video.
Of course, just filming out the back of the office would probably lack a little wow-factor, so the firm upped the ante a bit by taking its creation to the slopes at Rise Festival 2015 at Les Deux Alpes, France, to get some spectacular mountainous panoramic footage and dramatic shots of winter sportspeople in action.
Click above to watch the video, and use your mouse, keyboard or the touchscreen of your phone to move the view around. It’s not quite the same as being there, but it’s about as close as you’ll get on YouTube.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is made with much of the same technology as Sony’s cameras, with a 23MP sensor and hybrid autofocus which Sony says can acquire a subject in as little as 0.03 seconds.
