Softboxes are used to diffuse the light and create a soft and even light. Larger soft boxes such as this one work well for portraiture photography or large areas as they produce soft and even lighting. You'll find this softbox a suitable modifier if you have larger groups of people to photograph all together, but also if you have large products that need even lighting.
