TTL "Through the Lens" Flash Metering This is a standard metering mode used within the camera when your're using the camera's built-in flash or an external flashgun. It looks through the lens you're using and measures the burst of flash output light reflecting back from the subject. Non-TTL means the flash doesn't communicate with the camera in that way, and instead uses its own light metering system, built into the flash. TTL is better.
