Extension Tubes are designed to enable a lens to focus closer than its standard minimum focus distance. This has the effect of magnifying the subject so that it appears larger in the viewfinder and resulting images. Extension tubes are exceptionally useful for macro photography, allowing almost any lens to be used for close-up work, maintaining its original optical quality at a fraction of the cost of a dedicated macro lens.
Kenko Auto Extension Tubes Set
- Digital Compatible Canon EF/EFS lenses
- Length: 36mm, 20mm and 12mm.
- Weight: 125g, 85g and 60g.
- Full TTL coupling and AF (light levels permitting).
Kenko's Auto Extension Tubes contain all the circuitry and mechanical coupling to maintain autofocus and TTL auto exposure with most lenses, providing there is enough light. The Kenko Extension tubes have been updated to work with both the Canon EF and EF-S lenses.
Kenko's Auto Focus extension tubes are designed with all the circuitry and mechanical coupling to maintain auto focus and TTL auto exposure with most Canon, Nikon, and Sony/Minolta AF lenses, given there is enough light to activate the cameras AF system properly. Pentax fitting must be used in manual focus.
Please note: The Kenko Auto Extension Tubes are not auto focus compatible with Nikon AF-s (Silent Wave) lenses, manual focusing is required with these lenses.
Extension tubes are mounted in between the camera body and lens to create more distance between the lens and film plane. By increasing the distance between the lens and the film/sensor the lens is forced to focus a lot closer than normal. The greater the length of the extension tube, the closer the lens can focus. You will lose some light when using the extension tubes, especially when stacking the tubes together. The light lost can affect the camera's ability to Auto Focus, in this situation it is recommended to Manual focus instead.
