This lens is equipped with a highly complex and advance lens structure that is built up of 18 glass elements in 15 groups, and this includes the use of four aspherical elements and 11 anomalous partial dispersion elements. The use of these specialist glass elements effectively eliminates the appearance of chromatic aberrations and distortions throughout the zoom range. They are also what contributes to the overall sharpness and clarity that this lens can capture.

To complement this lens structure is a wide aperture range that offers a maximum aperture of f2.8 to 4 and a minimum aperture of f22. This range will cater to a huge range of shooting scenarios as well as offering greater control of depth-of-field for expressive selective focus. The design has been used to provide consistent performance throughout the entire focal range and at all focusing distances.

Enhanced Operation

In addition to the incredible lens structure and aperture control, the lens has been fitted with a multiple-axis optical image stabilisation system that compensates for up to 3.5 stops of camera shake. When paired with the likes of the Leica SL2 Digital Camera Body, you'll be afforded an even greater level of stabilisation for much sharper handheld shooting with slower shutter speeds.

When it comes to focusing, this lens features a stepping motor with linear positioning that offers precise, smooth and silent autofocusing. You can accurately focus as close as 30cm at the wide 24mm focal length, or as close as 45cm when shooting at the 90mm end. As well as this, the focusing drive is completely internal which in turn, prevents the front filter ring from rotating. This is particularly useful as it allows you to efficiently work with circular polarizers, graduated ND filters and filters that rely on specific placement.

The lens is weather-sealed which protects again dust and moisture allowing you to shoot in adverse weather conditions. Is this lens an autofocus lens?

Yes, this lens is an auto focus lens on any L mount camera.

Will this lens work on the Leica CL?

Yes, this lens will work on the CL and without an adapter. However, due to the smaller sensor on the CL, the 24-90mm focal length will change to an equivalent of 35-135mm.

Can this be mounted on a Leica M Mount camera?

This cannot be mounted on a Leica M-Mount Camera. The Leica SL can take M mount lenses with an adapter but not the reverse.
