It improves on the original with a new advanced optical design to achieve exceptional optical performance with improved corner sharpness, distortion and reduced vignetting. Beyond simply converting the lens mount, it also increases the amount of light entering the camera - providing a wider focal range (by a factor of 0.71x). This effectively reduces the crop factor of an APS-C camera from 1.5x to 1.07x, and offers an increased aperture of 1-stop.
