FAQs:

Are the Prostaff P7 12x50 binoculars a good choice for birding and long-distance observation?

Yes. The 12x magnification gives more reach than a 10x binocular, which is useful when birds or wildlife are further away across wetlands, open fields, or coastal areas. The 50mm objective lenses help keep the image bright enough for early starts and late light, so you are not giving up too much in brightness for the extra reach. They suit users who regularly watch distant subjects and want more detail without moving to a much larger pair of binoculars.

What is the benefit of the locking diopter ring?

The locking diopter ring lets you set the binocular to match your eyesight and then keeps that setting from shifting accidentally. That is particularly useful if the binoculars are carried in a bag, used on walks, or shared between different people. It saves you from having to keep checking or resetting the diopter each time you pick up the binoculars. It is a small but genuinely useful detail in day-to-day use.

How do they perform in poor weather or changing temperatures?

They are designed for outdoor use, with waterproof construction and nitrogen filling to help prevent internal fogging, which is important when moving from a warm car into cold air, or when you are out in damp weather near water. Nikon also uses rubber armouring to improve grip and add some protection against bumps and knocks. They are not intended for underwater use, but rather for regular field use.

Are they comfortable to use with glasses?

Yes. The 16.4mm eye relief provides a comfortable viewing position for many users, including those who wear glasses. Nikon also uses turn-and-slide eyecups, so it is easy to set the eye position correctly for use with or without spectacles. That becomes more important with 12x binoculars, where a stable, comfortable viewing position helps you make the most of the extra magnification.

What makes the optics in the Prostaff P7 12x50 stand out?

Nikon uses fully multicoated lenses, along with phase-corrected and dielectric-coated roof prisms, to improve brightness, contrast, and colour fidelity. In real viewing, that gives a cleaner, sharper image with better control of reflections and a more vivid sense of detail at a distance. The oil- and water-repellent coating on the outer lens surfaces is also useful, because it makes moisture, fingerprints, and smudges easier to wipe away.
