The Pentax 70-200mm f2.8 FA* ED DC AW Lens is part of the special, silver limited edition Star series of lenses. There are a total of 600 lenses with unique serial numbers - from 0000001 to 0000600 - for each of the 3 special edition lenses released. These have been designed for the silver versions of the PENTAX K-mount cameras. The special edition lens features all of the same specifications and capabilities as the original lens.

Sate-of-the-Art Optics

With several nanotechnology lens-coatings, including the Aero Bright Coating and HD Coating, the lens is capable of effectively reducing flare and ghosting even when working under demanding light conditions, e.g. backlight. This combined with four super-low dispersion glass elements, two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements, and two Super ED glass elements, deliver brilliant, high-contrast images with outstanding sharpness and effective compensation for chromatic aberration over the entire zoom range.

Part of the High-Performance Star Series

The Star series is a star of approval for exceptional image rendition with outstanding sharpness. The lens delivers a telephoto range of 107mm to 307mm in the 35mm format when mounted on a PENTAX K-mount camera body. With its large max F2.8 aperture - over the entire zoom range - the lens is perfect for portrait photography featuring gorgeous, defocused foregrounds or backgrounds. It also performs well for sports photography requiring fast shutter speeds capable of freezing motion.

Quick-Shift Focus System

The quick-shift focus system allows for instantaneous switching to manual focus operation after the subject has been captured in focus by the AF system. The three-position switch has been installed to further improve the quick-shift focus system's operability. With it, you can instantly switch among QFS/A, QFS/M, and MF modes.
