PRIME IV Image Processor and more…

The Pentax K-1 Mark II has been fitted with a 14-bit PRIME IV processing engine which works in tandem with a Ricoh-developed Accelerator Unit which in turn suppresses noise and will reproduce the fine details in your images. You'll also notice that the image processor and accelerator Unit are able to provide a notable boost in sensitivity that pushes the ISO range to 819200, and what's more along with quick 4.4 fps continuous shooting, Full HD 1080p video recording, it also has a Pixel Shift Resolution and AstroTracer function.

5-Axis Shake Reduction

Like all Pentax DSLR camera bodies, the K-1 Mark II is equipped with a 5-axis Shake Reduction system that will counter the effects of camera shake by up to 5 stops. This system is able to deal with yaw, pitch, and roll as well as vertical and horizontal motion that can occur when out photographing. The K-1 MK II also has an updated Pixel Shift Resolution II setting which shifts the sensor to capture full-colour data on each pixel by compositing four shots. In doing so, clarity is increased, noise is lowered and the resolution is effectively boosted to that off 42 megapixels. You'd expect this to be a tripod-only feature but with Dynamic Pixel Shift Resolution which is used in the K-1 MK II, you're able to use this handheld.

GPS, Compass, and AstroTracer

Automatically track your movements and position whilst you are at work with the K1 MK II's built-in GPS. It will record location, facing direction, and Coordinated Universal Time whilst also enabling the digital compass feature. Furthermore, this can be used in conjunction with the Shake Reduction feature to activate the AstroTracer function.

User Expereince

Pentax equipped the K-1 Mark II is equipped with dual SDXC card slots. These can be configured in a variety of ways via the intuitive menu system e.g. backup, splitting storage of JPEGs and raw files, or overflow. The entire body is easy to get on-board with and simple to use. There's a range of buttons and dials which can be configured to your personal preference. There are LED-illuminated body points to further help the use of the camera in low-light including points on the lens mount, card slots and more.

Then there is the LCD screen; one of the unique features of this camera. The screen is a 3.2" 1.04m-dot Cross-Tilt LCD that ensures the screen remains aligned with the optical centre of the camera. This is achieved whilst also allowing44° down and 90° upward tilt, and 35° left and right. This makes it easy to adjust and adapt to your environment and the subject that you are photographing.
