Rugged Camera Body

The Pentax K-70 Digital SLR Camera Body has a weatherproof, waterproof, dust-proof, and cold-proof down to -10-deg Celsius built; making it ideal for outdoor photography. If you need a camera for active outdoor shooting, like camping or mountain climbing, this camera is for you. It features a brand new grip design that provides you with a sturdy hold of the camera even whilst wearing gloves. The dial and control buttons have also been redesigned for improved operability. The rear LCD monitor is packed with handy features including a red-lighted display function perfect for astronomical or low-light photography. You can adjust the brightness of the screen depending on the shooting environment.

Professional Results Even in Low-Light

The camera incorporates a brand-new accelerator unit that works with the high-speed PRIME MII imaging engine. It minimises noise at all sensitivity levels thanks to which you can record fine-detailed images even when working at the top ISO of 102400. The Pixel Shift Resolution system is also available. It is the latest super-resolution tech capable of capturing four images of the same scene that it later synthesises into a single image. Thanks to this, the system obtains all colour data from each pixel to produce super-high-resolution images featuring accurate colour reproduction and fine details. Another excellent feature, ensuring high-quality images, is the AA (anti-aliasing) filter simulator for reduced moiré. For comparison, the AA filter simulator delivers the same level of moiré reduction as an optical AA filter. The difference is that with the simulator you can switch it on and off in addition to being able to adjust it based on the shooting conditions.

High-Precision AF System

Pentax has employed the first Hybrid-AF system. It amalgamates contrast-detection AF and phase-matching AF to deliver pinpoint, high-speed AF when shooting with Live View. The high-precision SAFOX X AF sensor module ensures that users get nothing but a responsive and dependable AF system. With 11 sensors, including 9 cross-type sensors capable of accurate focus at a minimum brightness level of -3 EV, the promise of high-precision AF system is upheld. Advanced features such as the Selected-Area Expansion (for automatic refocusing on a moving subject after it moves from the starting position), and an AF Hold function (for maintaining the initial focus point even with the subject out of sight) improves the overall accuracy in AF-C mode. Capturing fast-moving subjects is easy and precise with the high-speed shutter offering max shutter speed of 1/6000-seconds. It should be noted that the incorporated high-speed continuous shooting function offers a top speed of 6 images per second.

Improved Full-HD Video Recording

Users can record high-resolution Full HD (1080p) video in the H.264 format. 4K Interval Movie mode is also available. It connects a series of 4K-resolution still images at a fixed interval creating a single movie file. You can automatically set exposure via the new aperture control function when working with the HD DA 55-300mm f4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE lens. You can also exploit the Continuous AF (AF -C) mode to accurately focus on moving subjects when working with the HD DA 55-300mm f4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE lens or the SMC DA 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 ED AL IF DC WR lens. On top of this, the camera features a built-in stereo microphone for stereo sound recording.
