Expanded Sigma AF 105mm f2.8 Macro DG DN Art Lens Key Features:
Uncompromised Optical Quality
Sigma has spared no expense when designing this 105mm f2.8 Macro DG DN Art Lens. The optical makeup of this lens ensures edge-to-edge sharpness across the entire frame, whether photographing distance subjects or extreme close-ups macro images. The lens will consistently produce colour- and clarity-rich images thanks to its superior rendering performance as well as being able to minimise ghosting and flare, even when shooting in backlit conditions. Further to this, the advanced optical design effectively removes chromatic aberrations and more specifically, longitudinal chromatic aberrations that are not easily removed via in-camera corrections. Finally, there's the 9-blade rounded aperture diaphragm. This diaphragm is designed to provide beautifully smooth out-of-focus areas and when your aperture is wide open, it'll produce perfectly circular bokeh circles which will elevate both your macro and portrait photography.
Superior Autofocus & Operation
Sigma has designed an optimised autofocus system that allows the Sigma Macro 105mm F2.8 DG DN Art Lens to be compatible with the latest face/eye detection that you'll have on your E-mount or L-mount camera body. The lens uses a powerful Hyper-Sonic Motor (HSM) which helps to achieve highly precise and quiet autofocus operation. In addition, Sigma has implemented various features that allow for advanced functionality and operation for both photographers and videographers. The 105mm has an aperture ring which provides you with the option to control your aperture from either the camera or lens, depending on your shooting conditions. There's a switch which can be de-clicked allowing you to change your aperture whilst filming without stepped changes to exposure. This feature makes for a quieter operation which can be particularly useful if you're filming close-up subjects. There's also an aperture ring lock button which removes the risk of accidentally switching from auto to manual aperture control.
Along with these features, the lens barrel also features a focus limiter switch with ranges from 0.295m-0.5m, 0.5m-infinity, or FULL. This switch is designed for faster AF performance by allowing you to limit the lens' focusing range. This ideal for when you roughly know the distance of your subject. For example, if you know your subject will move into a certain area of your frame, you'd set the limit to that area so that when your subject appears, accurate focus is attained quickly by ignoring the rest of the frame. Finally, adjacent to the focus limiter switch is an AFL button. This button allows you to assign a function via your camera menu for quick access. All of these features are what enables an efficient workflow when using this lens.
Classic High-Quality Sigma Build
Sigma are well known for building stunning lenses that are designed to last and this lens is no different. Featuring the classic high-quality materials Sigma uses, this lens also has a dust- and splash-proof construction which allows the use of this lens in a wide of shooting environments. It has a truly smooth operation from its focus and apertures rings, to even just mounting the lens to your camera body. It's ergonomic, user-friendly and easily adaptable to wherever or whatever you are trying to capture. Because of all of this, this lens is ideal for any level of user, whether you're an enthusiast or professional practitioner.
