The long range Sigma ultra telephoto 150-500mm is just the ticket for capturing nature, sports and subjects at a distance. Sigma uses the smart Optical Stabilisation to offer an equivalent of using a shutter speed approximately 4 stops faster. This means that you can use the super zoom hand-held without getting blurred images caused by camera shake. This lens also incorporates the super quiet Hyper Sonic Motor for high-speed autofocus, and as this is working internally, so the manual-focusing ring remains motionless. Compatible with Sigma APO Tele Converters, this lens effectively becomes a 210-700mm F7-8.8 or a 300-1000mm F10-12.6 ultra-telephoto zoom. A removable tripod collar is included as standard. Photography reviewers and birdwatchers agree that this lens is superb with the overall image sharpness to the edge of the frame, the optical Stabiliser system and value for money being highlighted by What Digital Camera.
The Key Features
Incorporated with SLD Glass
Three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements provide excellent correction for chromatic aberration. This lens is equipped with the rear focus system that minimises fluctuation of aberrations caused by focusing. It provides optimum image quality throughout the entire zoom range. The super multi-layer lens coating reduces flare and ghosting. High image quality is assured throughout the entire zoom range.
Minimum focusing distance of 150cm
The minimum focusing distance of 150cm throughout the entire zoom range and has a maximum magnification of 1:4.2 make it useful for close-up photography.
Compatible with Sigma APO Tele Converters
The addition of the (optional) 1.4x EX DG APO or 2x EX DG APO Tele Converters produce a 210-700mm F7-8.8 MF ultra-telephoto zoom lens or a 300-1000mm F10-12.6 MF ultra-telephoto zoom lens respectively. A removable tripod collar (TS-31) is included as a standard component.
Detachable tripod collar
A removable tripod collar and matched lens hood is included as a standard component.
DG
Sigma's DG lenses are designed for cameras with a full-frame sensor, but cameras with a cropped sensor can also take these lenses. These are large-aperture lenses with wide angles and short minimum focusing distances. With an abundance of peripheral illumination, they are ideal lenses for Digital SLR Cameras whilst retaining suitability for traditional 35mm SLRs.
OS (Optical Stabilizer)
This function utilises a built-in mechanism that compensates for camera shake. It dramatically expands photographic possibilities by alleviating camera movement when shooting hand held.
HSM (Hyper-Sonic Motor)
This lens uses a motor driven by ultrasonic waves to provide a quiet, high speed AF.
