FAQs:
How does the focusable beam work on the RF 20C?
The front plano-convex lens slides in and out with a push-pull action. Moving the lens alters how tightly the beam is gathered, shifting the spread from 24° to 60°. A narrow beam places light more directly on a face, background or rim edge, while a wider beam distributes the same source over more of the scene.
How bright is the SmallRig RF 20C?
In spotlight mode, the RF 20C reaches 5400 lux at 1m at 5600K and 6000 lux at 0.5m at 5600K, with the shorter distance producing a stronger reading at the subject. The 20W output delivers enough punch for close portrait lighting, background accents, light painting or rim light in compact setups. Brightness can be adjusted with the built-in control.
What colours and effects can it produce?
The light produces five LED colours: red, 5600K white, purple, orange and cyan. These colours create a simple colour wash on a background, subject edge, or small product scene without the need for gels. The supplied 20 gobos sit in the light path, breaking the beam into patterns. When colour and pattern are combined, the projected light changes the surface behind the subject rather than only brightening it.
How long does the battery last?
The RF 20C uses two built-in 5000mAh 21700 lithium-ion batteries. Runtime is up to 1.5 hours at full power and about 3 hours at medium-brightness. USB-C PD 36W fast charging restores the built-in batteries, and passthrough charging lets the light keep running while connected to a power source, ideal for interviews, livestreams or fixed tabletop shots where stopping to recharge would interrupt the setup.
How can the RF 20C be mounted?
The light has two side 1/4"-20 threaded holes with ARRI locating pins and another 1/4"-20 thread on the base. A normal thread connects the light to a stand, arm or clamp, while locating pins prevent twisting when a compatible mount is tightened. This keeps the beam aimed where you set it without slowly turning under its own weight. The lightweight 520g aluminium body can also be used handheld.
