The Sony A6400 Digital Camera Body bridges the gap between Sony's massively popular full-frame CSC, and APS-C line-ups. The camera offers the world's fastest (as of writing this article) AF acquisition of 0.02 seconds. Users can enjoy the newly developed 'Real-Time Eye AF', and 'Real-Time Tracking'. The A6400 is also capable of capturing up to 11fps with AF/AE tracking, and includes a BIONZ X image processor, a tilt-able LCD touch screen, and 4k video recording.

Lightning-Fast Performance

Thanks to the newly developed BIONZ X image processor users can benefit from A6400's outstanding AF system. Approximately 84% of the image is covered thanks to the 425 phase-detection AF points and 425 contrast-detection AF points that work at a speed of 0.02 seconds.

Real-Time Eye AF

The advanced Real-Time Eye AF with AI-based object recognition can detect and process eye data in real time. Thanks to this the camera has a point of reference for measuring autofocus. This is true for all AF modes and can be triggered automatically by simply half-pressing the shutter button. Thanks to this the camera is very convenient to use. Additionally, when working in the AF-C or the AF-A mode the preferred eye (that is either left or right) of the subject can be selected as the focus point.

Real-Time Tracking

The Real-Time Tracking AF function also includes AI-based object recognition that considers colour, subject distance (depth), and pattern (brightness) as spatial data. This means that any subject can be captured with excellent accuracy.

Outstanding Image Quality

The 24.2-megapixel imaging sensor works with the BIONZ X image processor that is capable of reaching brand new levels of performance. It comes with the run-of-the-mill ISO range of up to ISO 32000 (expandable to ISO 102400 for still images). This is true for both still image capture and video. Additionally, noise reduction delivers fantastic results at both medium and high sensitivities.

4k Video Capture

The A6400 supports internal 4k capture with full pixel readout but no pixel binning. Oversampling is available to deliver excellent high-quality footage. This is achieved through the collection of approx. 2.4x the amount of data required for UHD video. Users also benefit from the Hybrid Log-Gamma profile for Instant HDR workflows. This is a first for cropped sensor Sony mirrorless cameras.

Elevated Time-Lapse Functionality

Thanks to the internal Intervalometer, that can be set to record each frame from 1-60 seconds, users are free to create beautiful time-lapses. For added flexibility the total number of shots can also be set between 1 and 9999. Whilst in this mode users can also control the AE tracking with Low, Medium, and High sensitivity options. This helps the video to be correctly exposed throughout its entirety.
