It has a reduced flange radius and shortened flange focal distance of 18mm compared to earlier Sony cameras that used 44.5mm. A caveat of this shortened flange distance is that it prohibits the use of an optical viewfinder as there isn’t space for a mirror box mechanism and as a result, all E-mount cameras use an electronic viewfinder. In addition, Sony has developed 40+ native full-frame lenses that offer a plethora of creative options, all of which provide exceptional image quality and professional-level performance.
