Expanded Sony Alpha A7R Mark II Digital Camera Body Key Features:

High-Resolution and Speed

The user can reach professional-grade quality, sensitivity, and respond speed thanks to the impressive 42.4-megapixel CMOS imaging sensor. This fantastic piece of tech combines two of the main determining factors when choosing a camera. Users don't have to limit themselves to either buying a camera that offers high-resolution with lighting fast speeds, or high-resolution with high-sensitivity. The A7R Mark II offers both in a sleek, compact body. Another marvellous feature is the sensor's back-illuminated structure that includes an expanded circuit scale and copper wiring design. Thanks to this it delivers faster transmission speeds and guarantees that the content is being captured in high-resolution without losing sensitivity. Last but not least the data can also output from the sensor at an approx. 3.5x faster rate when compared to its predecessor.

High Sensitivity ISO with Low Noise

The light collecting efficiency has been dramatically improved thanks to the amalgamation of the gapless on-ship lens design and the AR (anti-reflective) coating on the surface of the sensor's glass seal. These features are incorporated into the impressive 42.4-megapixel imaging sensor. The user can enjoy low noise, high-sensitivity autofocus with a wide dynamic range making this camera perfect for shooting in low lit scenarios as well as wildlife photography and videography. In addition to this the Sony Alpha A7R Mark II delivers a remarkable ISO range of 100 to 25600 which can be further expanded to ISO 50 to 102400.

Fast Hybrid AF System

The Imaging Sensor has a 399 focal-plane, phase-detection AF which works with the 25 contrast AF points to achieve a focus response that is approximately 40% faster than its predecessor. The user can enjoy 5fps continuous shooting with AF tracking thanks to the Fast Hybrid AF system combined with the advanced motion-detection algorithm.

BIONZ X Image Processor

The high-speed BIONZ X Image Processor enables images and video form the camera to be recorded with fantastic detail and low noise. Optical low pass filter is also available on the camera. This ensures that the scenery and landscapes are captured in the highest possible resolution.

5-Axis Image Stabilisation

This 5-Axis Image Stabilisation system has been optimised to facilitate high-resolution capture. It corrects camera shake along 5-axis during capture and includes angular shake (pitch and yaw) that tends to occur with a telephoto lens, shift shake (X and Y axes) which can become very apparent as magnification increases, and finally rotational shake (roll) that often negatively affects video recording. In addition to this the stabilisation system works with the Sony A lenses with optical SteadyShot (OSS). This provides the user with maximum clarity and stabilisation, while at the same time delivering admirable performance via compatible mount adapter when combined with the Sony A-mount lenses without on board stabilisation. The operator is able to preview the effects of the stabiliser on a large, live-view LCD or OLED viewfinder.

Durable Shutter

The incorporated shutter features a highly durable design with reduced-vibration that delivers 50% less vibration from the shutter movement compared to its predecessor. It offers a cycle durability of up to 500,000 shots. The user is able to set the camera to Silent Shooting Mode to capture images quietly and without sensor movement or vibration.

Optional A-mount Adapter

This mirrorless camera is the first camera which features an AF system that can perform extremely well when used with lenses originally designed for DSLRs. The focal plane phase-detection AF is compatible with the Sony A-mount lenses when they are mounted with either an LA-EA3 or LA-EA1 mount adapter.

Fantastic 4K Video Capture

The Sony Alpha A7R Mark II can capture stunning 4K quality footage in either 35mm crop mode or full-frame mode. When shooting in 35mm the camera collects a large amount of information from approx. 1.8x as many pixels as 4K. This is achieved through the utilisation of full pixel readout without pixel binning. It oversamples the information in order to produce beautifully detailed 4K videos with minimal moire and ‘jaggies'. When using the full-frame mode the camera utilises the full width of the 35mm sensor for 4K capture. This empowers the camera operators to benefit from expanded expressive power of the sensor. During 4K recording, the camera uses the advanced XAVC S codec which allows for high bit rate of 100 Mbps, and 50 Mbps in full HD mode. In addition to all of these features the user also benefits from a large variety of functions that facilitate professional filmmaking. These functions include Picture Profile, S-Log2 Gamma and S-Gamut, 120fps high frame rate movie shooting in HD (720p), time code, a clean HDMI output, and more!

Enhanced Design, Operability and Reliability

The upgraded XGA OLED Tru-Finder features a double-sided aspherical lens which provides impressive viewfinder magnification of 0.78x crystal clear image preview as well as playback across the entire display area. Unwanted reflections are minimised thanks to the ZEISS T Coating for an improved user experience. The built of the camera itself is lightweight, robust with a professional feel. It features a redesigned grip, shutter button, and a new mechanism that conveniently lock the mode dial. The user can enjoy a flexible range of customisable buttons and functions to make the camera experience their own.

Wi-Fi, NFC Connectivity, and Apps

Compatible with Sony's PlayMemories App for mobiles and cameras (iOS and Android) as well as WiFi, and NFC. These apps add a healthy range of new features and help expand creativity. One example of this is the ‘Angle Shift add-on' app that enables users to add pan, tilt, and zoom to time-lapses with no need for additional equipment or software. CLM-FHD5 LCD monitor is also compatible with this camera. It is a 5.0-type Full HD LCD monitor that offers an enlarging and peaking functionality that aids precise focusing, false colour and video level maker that adjusts exposure. Finally, the S-Log display supports S-Log capture.
