The Sony Alpha NEX-5 combines the capability of DSLR technology with convenient interchangeable lenses in a neat design that can be carried easily in a pocket or bag. The Alpha NEX-5 is 'mirrorless', bringing the thickness of the camera to just 24.2mm at its slimmest point. The camera features a re-designed Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor with 14.2 effective megapixels. This makes it a much larger sensor than that usually found inside a compact camera and therefore makes the extremely low image noise and creative defocus effects normally found on DSLRs possible. Never Get Lost Menu
Easy-to-use menu interface makes the features of the Sony NEX-5 easy to access to even amateur photographers. The menu offers an in-built photography guide to help make things simple, and shooting parameters can be easily accessed via an intuitive control wheel and two soft keys. For example, you can preview depth of field changes 'live' on the LCD (only when an E-mount lens is attached).
Big, bright 3" LCD
The Sony NEX-5 features a 3" LCD screen with Xtra Fine and TruBlack technology that tilts up or down for optimum viewing in any shooting position. There is an auto-brightness button to give you excellent visibility even when you're outdoors. The TruBlack technology means you can view your images in vivid, high contrast colours.
HD video recording
The Sony NEX-5 offers Full HD video recording at the touch of the dedicated Movie REC button and shoots video with stereo sound as 1920 x 1080i AVCHD files, making them perfect for storing or sharing, or watching on a connected HD television. The smart-accessory terminal accepts the compact ECM-SST1 Stereo Microphone (sold separately) that captures high quality sound.
Auto HDR (as seen on the A550 DSLR)
The popular Auto HDR functionality seen on the Sony Alpha 550 Digital SLR has been further refined so that the NEX-5 can now shoot a high-speed burst of three images at different exposure values that are electronically combined in-camera. This produces a single High Dynamic Range image with extended highligh and shadow detail.
Super compact clip-on flash
The Sony Alpha NEX-5 is supplied with a super-compact clip-on flash that attaches via the smart accessory terminal when needed for low-light shooting. Other optional accessories include the FDA-SV1 Optical Viewfinder plus colour coordinated cases and shoulder straps.

The balance of the finance agreement is payable directly to Novuna Consumer Finance in equal monthly instalments by monthly direct debit. The direct debit payments will commence at the end of the first month following receipt of your goods. The interest rate charged is 13.9% APR. Buy now pay later
The Buy Now Pay Later option comprises a 36 month loan following a six month deferral period.
During the six-month deferral period, it is possible to pay off the loan, either by way of a lump sum or in smaller amounts. If the loan is partially repaid within six months, the remaining interest will be adjusted to reflect the new balance. If the loan is fully repaid within the six-month deferral period, then no interest is payable, however, a £29 early settlement fee is payable in respect of repayments within these six months.
Following the six-month deferral period, Novuna Personal Finance will initiate a monthly direct debit payment for the remaining duration of the loan. Interest will be charged at a rate of 18.9% APR on outstanding balances (backdated to the first date of the loan). Novuna Personal Finance will send a reminder letter approximately one month before the six-month deferral period is due to elapse.
