How fast does the FJ250 recycle between flashes?

Recycle time runs from 0.01 to 0.9 seconds, depending on the power setting. At lower power, the capacitor recharges faster, so the strobe can fire again almost immediately. At full power, it still recycles in under a second, which helps when shooting portraits, fashion, or movement where expressions and body positions change quickly. The fast response means fewer missed frames when the subject gives you the moment.

What does Freeze Sync do?

Freeze Sync shortens the flash duration, reaching up to 1/29,600 second at t0.5. The shorter burst of light hits the subject for less time, so fast movement is recorded with less blur from the flash itself. This is useful for hair movement, fabric, dance, product splashes, or energetic portrait work. Colour temperature remains controlled in freeze mode at 5500K with a tolerance of ±500K.

What is ‘Creative Mask mode’?

Creative Mask mode lets you programme which lights fire across a sequence, creating up to six lighting combinations from one setup. Instead of physically moving stands or changing modifiers between frames, the FJ250 changes which groups fire as you shoot. This can give one frame with a key light, another with rim light, and another with a background light, all from the same subject position. It is particularly useful for high-volume product, portrait, or ecommerce work where consistency matters.

How long does the included battery last?

The included FJ Pro battery provides up to 850 full-power flashes from a charge. At lower power levels, the strobe draws less energy per flash, so the total flash count rises well beyond that figure. The battery has LED status indicators, so you can check remaining charge before packing or during setup. It also offers compatibility with higher-end FJ400 II and FJ800 units, making battery management simpler for photographers already using the FJ system.

What modifiers can I use with the FJ250?

The FJ250 uses a native Bowens S front mount, so many widely available softboxes, reflectors, beauty dishes, and other modifiers can attach directly. When you lock a modifier onto the mount, the extended flash tube sits far enough forward to spread light more evenly across the accessory. The strobe also includes a 5.5-inch magnetic reflector and a gel set with CTO, half CTO, window green, and diffusion gels. A Rapid Box Switch insert is supplied for compatible Westcott Rapid Box Switch modifiers.

How does the modelling lamp help with setup?

The built-in 12W LED modelling lamp can be adjusted from 2700K to 6500K. When you turn it on, it casts a continuous preview of where the flash will fall, making it easier to position the light, check shadow direction, and refine catchlights before taking the frame. The colour adjustment also lets the preview sit closer to warm indoor light or cooler daylight. It is not a replacement for the flash output, but it makes placement more confident.
