Two-head studio lighting

This kit includes two FJ400-SE strobes, each rated at 400 W, so you can build a simple key-and-fill setup straight from the box. One head can work as the main light through a 42-inch octa softbox, while the second can lift shadows, light the background, or add separation from behind the subject. Because both heads run from mains power, they suit fixed studio spaces, teaching rooms and product areas where plug-in operation makes more sense than battery management.

Manual flash control

The FJ400-SE is a manual-only strobe, so power changes happen directly rather than through TTL metering. The 6-stop range runs from 12.5Ws to 400Ws, and the 0.1-stop adjustment lets you fine-tune exposure when small changes in brightness matter. Recycling from 0.5 to 1.0 seconds means the flash capacitors recharge quickly between bursts, so the lights keep pace with normal portrait and product shooting. A stable recycle mode can extend recycling to up to 3 seconds for longer sessions that need steadier behaviour.

Light preview and colour consistency

Each head includes a 15W daylight LED modelling lamp at 5500K. When you switch it on, you can see where the light lands before firing the flash, which makes it easier to place catchlights, check background spill and judge shadow direction. The flash output is rated at 5500K ±200K, so frames stay close in colour as you adjust power. Auto dump removes excess stored power after you reduce the output, so the next flash matches the new setting rather than firing too bright.

Wireless triggering and app control

The included FJ-X3 M trigger mounts on the camera hot shoe and sends 2.4 GHz radio commands to the strobes’ built-in receivers. The strobes support 32 channels and 16 groups, while the trigger offers a 300m wireless range with FJ equipment. That means you can place lights across a studio and change their groups or power without walking to every head. The StudioLink app also opens up the Creative Mask and Delay functions, which are useful when you want different light combinations or timed effects from a single fixed arrangement.

ClickBox octa softboxes

The two included 42-inch ClickBox octa softboxes give the kit a ready-made soft-light setup. Their eight-sided faces spread light broadly across faces, shoulders and products, while the silver interiors reflect more output forward through the removable diffusers. As the front diffusion panels scatter light across a larger surface area, shadows become less abrupt, and catchlights appear rounder in the eyes. The click-locking frames open without separate rods, then fold down with a push-button release for storage or transport.

Mounting and accessories

Each FJ400-SE uses a Bowens S front mount, so it can take the included magnetic reflector, the supplied ClickBox softboxes and other compatible light shapers. A 9mm umbrella receptacle gives another simple way to spread light, while the integrated tilting bracket and 5/8-inch receiver mount the head to standard lighting stands. The supplied gel sets include CTO, 1/2 CTO, window green and diffusion, so you can warm the flash, match mixed room light or soften the reflector output. Replacement fuses are also included for basic service support.
