FAQs:
How bright is the amaran Halo 60x compared to similar 60W lights?
The amaran Halo 60x delivers up to 3,270 lux at 1 metre (bare) at 6,500K, placing it at the top of the output range for its size class. The 85° native beam spreads that light evenly, which helps when pushing through diffusion or softboxes. With optional modifiers such as the Mini Fresnel, output increases significantly for more focused applications.
Can I power the Halo 60x using batteries?
Yes. The Halo 60x accepts USB-C PD input, so it can run from compatible PD battery sources as well as the supplied AC adapter. With the optional Ace E-Lock Adapter and an amaran Peak series battery, it can operate at full output for about 60 minutes, depending on the battery used. This makes it practical for short location shoots without mains access.
Is the Bowens mount full-size?
Yes. Despite the compact body, it uses a reinforced full-size Bowens mount. This allows compatibility with standard Bowens softboxes, reflectors, Fresnels and other modifiers. The wider 85° beam helps fill larger modifiers more evenly.
How loud is the operational noise on the Halo 60x?
In Smart mode, the fan runs at 28dBA. In most small studio or interview setups, this level of noise is low enough to remain unobtrusive when microphones are positioned correctly. Fan modes can be adjusted depending on output and recording sensitivity.
How do you change parameters on the Halo 60x?
The Halo 60x features separate brightness and colour temperature knobs with a clear on-board display for quick adjustments. It also connects to the amaran app via Bluetooth, with one-tap pairing using built-in NFC. For larger productions, DMX control is available through USB-C using the optional 5-pin adapter.
