FAQs
Is the Ray 60c powerful enough for key light use?
At 60W, the Ray 60c produces up to 3910 lux at 1 metre in its bare form, which is more than enough for close key lighting, interviews and desk-based setups. With the supplied Octa Dome 30, the output softens nicely while remaining practical for faces. Adding the optional Mini Reflector or Fresnel gives extra punch when you need more reach.
How portable is the Ray 60c in use?
The light is very slim and compact, so it packs more like a flat panel than a traditional COB head. At roughly 530 g, it does not add much weight to a bag. The included softbox, grid and carry bag mean you can travel with a complete lighting setup without hunting for extra accessories.
Can I run the Ray 60c on batteries?
Yes. It supports USB-C PD power, DC input and amaran’s Ace E-Lock battery system. With compatible batteries, you can work cable-free for around 45 minutes at full output, or longer at reduced levels, which suits short location shoots and quick setups.
Is the fan noise level suitable for video recording?
The active cooling system stays quiet, measuring around 28 dBA at maximum output. You can choose silent or smart fan modes depending on the situation. For dialogue and close-mic work, the fan noise stays unobtrusive.
