The Nikon 24mm f1.4 is a new fast aperture wide-angle lens designed for creating a beautiful shallow DOF and low-light photography on FX digital SLRs. Packed full of ED and aspherical lens elements, the 24mm f1.4 is probably the closest Nikon aficionados can get to wide-angle optical nirvana...
The new Nikon 24mm f1.4 AF-S ED lens
The optical design of the 24mm f1.4 lens is new, featuring 12 elements in 10 groups, including 2 ED & 2 aspherical lens elements. Nano coating is added to the mix too – reducing flare & reflections. The fast f1.4 aperture means shallow DOF effects are well within grasp and Nikon have taken great care to produce stunning bokeh characteristics (aided by 9 diaphragm blades for a smooth rounded aperture).

As you’d expect from a professional Nikkor lens it features a magnesium alloy construction with weather-resistant sealing to compliment the high-end Nikon digital SLRs. A soft pouch and dedicated lens hood (HB-51) are included for added protection.
Bob Krist, a talented American photographer, describes the new Nikon 24mm f1.4 on his blog as “a nano-coated gem. It’s a 77mm filter mount, not too big or heavy for what it is and sharp as a tack. Nice bokeh too”. Praise indeed!
