The DJI Mic Mini 2S advances the Mic Mini line by adding internal recording to the transmitter, including 32-bit float capture for greater recovery latitude when levels change unexpectedly. Its 14.5GB usable storage provides up to 28 hours of 24-bit recording, allowing the transmitter to maintain a local backup independently of the wireless feed. A new AI noise-cancelling system separates speech from surrounding sound more precisely, helping keep voices clearer as background noise changes. Adaptive Gain Control then manages sudden peaks and uneven speech levels, reducing the amount of corrective work needed later.

This kit pairs the Mic Mini 2S Transmitter with the DJI Mic Series Mobile Receiver for compact smartphone recording. The receiver plugs directly into compatible USB-C phones, keeping the setup small while still supporting up to two transmitters. Transmission reaches up to 300m with compatible Mic Mini-series models in Green Light mode, giving subjects more room to move while the phone remains in position. Mono, Stereo and Mono Safety Track modes provide different ways to combine or separate connected microphones, depending on how much control is needed afterwards. The included charging case keeps the transmitter and Mobile Receiver stored and powered together between recordings.

Internal recording and file security

The DJI Mic Mini 2S Transmitter includes 14.5GB of usable internal storage, giving the microphone its own recording path alongside the wireless feed. It stores up to 28 hours of 24-bit audio or 22 hours in 32-bit float, providing a local copy if transmission is interrupted. Loop recording automatically replaces the oldest files once storage is full, so the transmitter can keep recording without stopping for manual file management. Haptic feedback confirms when internal recording or noise cancelling is switched on or off, which is useful when the transmitter’s status light is out of view.

32-bit float recording provides greater latitude when speech levels change sharply, reducing the need to monitor gain continuously. Internal recordings can be kept as an untreated Original File for post-production, or saved as an Edited File with selected processing already applied. Edited files can include noise cancelling, voice tone, low cut and Adaptive Gain Control, giving users the choice between an untreated source and audio that is closer to delivery.

The included DJI Mic Mini 2 Transmitter Magnetic Charging Cable also connects the transmitter directly to a computer for file transfer at up to 34MB/s. The compact charging case in this bundle is used for storage and charging rather than data copying.

AI noise cancelling and level control

A dedicated NPU drives the Mic Mini 2S AI noise-cancelling system, allowing the transmitter to distinguish speech from surrounding sound before applying suppression. Basic mode reduces lower-level background noise such as ventilation and room reverberation, while Strong mode applies heavier reduction where surrounding sound is more prominent. When paired with the Mobile Receiver, a physical Off, Low and High switch lets you change noise-cancelling strength without opening the app.

Adaptive Gain Control helps keep speech levels under control as volume changes. Clipping Control steps in when a voice suddenly gets louder, while Loudness Balance smooths out quieter and louder sections for a more even result. Regular, Rich and Bright voice presets provide simple tonal adjustment, while a 100Hz low-cut filter helps reduce low-frequency rumble.

Mobile Receiver connectivity

The DJI Mic Series Mobile Receiver plugs directly into compatible USB-C smartphones, keeping the recording setup compact without adding a separate cable between the phone and receiver. It can connect to up to two compatible Mic Mini-series transmitters, so this single-transmitter kit can expand to two-person recording when needed. In Green Light mode, transmission reaches up to 300m, giving subjects more room to move while the phone remains in position. Gain and transmitter settings are adjusted through DJI Mimo, while noise cancelling can be changed directly from the receiver.

Mono mode combines connected microphones into one output for straightforward recording, while Stereo keeps two transmitters separated across left and right channels for more control in post-production. Mono Safety Track creates a second lower-level recording, providing a backup if speech suddenly becomes louder than expected. The Mobile Receiver can also mix compatible Mic Mini-series transmitters with Mic 2 or Mic 3 units in Blue Light mode, making it easier to combine newer and existing DJI microphones within the same mobile setup.

Smartphone power and monitoring

The Mobile Receiver draws power directly from a compatible USB-C smartphone, so it does not need a separate battery during normal mobile recording. If external power is connected to the receiver, the phone can continue charging while audio is being captured, which is useful for longer recording or livestreaming sessions.

The receiver’s USB-C charging port also supports audio monitoring through compatible analogue USB-C headphones or a suitable 3.5mm adapter. This lets you check the incoming signal while recording rather than relying only on visual level indicators. Monitoring volume is adjusted through DJI Mimo. Lightning-equipped iPhones require the separately available DJI Mic Series Mobile Receiver Adapter (USB-C to Lightning).

Device connectivity and OsmoAudio

The Mic Mini 2S Transmitter can also connect directly to compatible smartphones over Bluetooth, removing the Mobile Receiver when the smallest possible setup is preferred. One transmitter can act as the audio source for supported recording or livestreaming apps, with settings adjusted through the DJI Mimo app.

OsmoAudio provides the same receiver-free approach with compatible DJI devices. The transmitter connects directly to the camera, where microphone settings can be adjusted, and internal recording can follow the camera’s recording status. This makes it easier to move the same transmitter between smartphone and DJI camera setups without changing how it is worn.

Compact mounting and operation

The Mic Mini 2S Transmitter weighs 12g, keeping it light enough to sit on clothing without pulling heavily on collars or lapels. It can be mounted with either the magnetic clip or included magnet, giving users a choice between a conventional clip-on position and a flatter attachment through clothing. The detachable clip supports four mounting directions, helping keep the microphone facing towards the speaker rather than being dictated by the angle of the fabric. An omnidirectional pickup pattern then maintains consistent speech as the wearer turns or moves naturally, while the supplied windscreen reduces wind reaching the capsule outdoors.

Obsidian Black and Glaze White magnetic front covers are both included, allowing the transmitter’s appearance to be changed without disturbing its mounting position. This makes it easier to keep the microphone more discreet against different clothing or leave it intentionally visible on camera.
