What’s new?

The DJI Mic Mini 2S succeeds the DJI Mic Mini 2, advancing the Mini line by adding internal recording to the transmitter, including 32-bit float capture for greater recovery latitude when levels change unexpectedly. Its 14.5GB usable storage provides up to 28 hours of 24-bit recording, allowing the transmitter to maintain a local backup if the wireless signal drops. A new AI noise-cancelling system separates speech from surrounding sound more precisely, while Adaptive Gain Control manages sudden peaks or changing voice levels before they become harder to correct in post.

The receiver now connects to up to four transmitters, extending the compact system to larger multi-person recording setups when additional compatible transmitters are added. Quadraphonic output keeps four sources separate through supported Sony camera or USB connections, giving each speaker an independent track for editing. Bluetooth 6.0 and cross-generation support with Mic Mini and Mic Mini 2 transmitters broaden connection options, while direct OsmoAudio operation removes the receiver when working with compatible DJI devices. These changes extend the Mic Mini format beyond straightforward single-person wireless recording.

Internal recording and file security

The DJI Mic Mini 2S transmitter includes 14.5GB of usable internal storage, giving the microphone its own recording path alongside the wireless feed. It stores up to 28 hours of 24-bit audio or 22 hours in 32-bit float, providing a local copy if transmission is interrupted. Automatic recording can begin when the transmitter powers on or connects to the receiver, while a low receiver battery can also trigger an internal backup. Loop recording keeps the system running by replacing the oldest files once storage is full.

32-bit float recording provides greater latitude when speech levels change sharply, reducing the need to monitor gain continuously. Internal files can be saved as the untreated Original File or as an Edited File with selected processing applied. This allows users to retain a clean source for post-production or work with audio that already includes noise cancelling, voice tone, low cut and gain processing. The included magnetic charging cable also connects the transmitter directly to a computer for transferring recordings at up to 34MB/s.

AI noise cancelling and level control

A dedicated NPU drives the Mic Mini 2S AI noise-cancelling system, allowing the transmitter to distinguish speech from surrounding sound before applying suppression. Basic mode reduces lower-level background noise such as ventilation and room reverberation, while Strong mode applies heavier reduction where environmental sound is more prominent. The processing can be controlled from the transmitter, DJI Mimo app, or compatible OsmoAudio devices. This reduces the amount of background noise that needs attention in post-production.

Adaptive Gain Control helps keep speech levels under control as volume changes. Clipping Control steps in when a voice suddenly gets louder, while Loudness Balance smooths out quieter and louder sections for a more even result. Regular, Rich and Bright voice presets provide simple tonal adjustment, and a 100Hz low-cut filter helps reduce low-frequency rumble.

Four-transmitter wireless system

The Mic Mini 2S Receiver supports up to four compatible Mic Mini-series transmitters at once, allowing this single-transmitter kit to expand when additional microphones are needed. A single receiver can therefore handle larger conversations, panel discussions or podcasts without requiring a separate receiver for each pair of speakers. Wireless transmission reaches up to 400m with compatible Mic Mini-series transmitters, giving subjects room to move while maintaining the receiver link. Cross-generation support also allows Mic Mini and Mic Mini 2 transmitters to join the same receiver setup.

Channel routing changes with the number of speakers and the required edit. Mono combines connected microphones, Stereo separates them across left and right groups, and Quadraphonic keeps four transmitters independent through supported digital connections. Four-channel output is available through compatible Sony cameras using the separately available DJI Mic Series Camera Adapter, or through supported computer software over USB. Safety Track is also available in Mono, creating a second combined channel at 6dB lower level. The 3.5mm output remains stereo in Quadraphonic mode, combining TX1 and TX3 on the left channel and TX2 and TX4 on the right.

Compact mounting and operation

The Mic Mini 2S transmitter weighs 12g and can be attached using either the magnetic clip or included magnet. The detachable clip supports four mounting directions, helping to keep the microphone oriented towards the speaker when attached to collars, lapels or other clothing. An omnidirectional pickup pattern maintains consistent speech capture as the wearer moves naturally, while the supplied windscreen reduces wind reaching the microphone outdoors.

Interchangeable magnetic front covers provide a simple way to change how visible the transmitter appears on camera. Obsidian Black and Glaze White covers are both included and attach directly to the front of the transmitter without changing its mounting position. Haptic feedback confirms changes to internal recording and noise cancelling when the transmitter’s indicator is difficult to see. These physical controls keep common adjustments accessible without relying entirely on the app.

Device connectivity and OsmoAudio

The Mic Mini 2S Receiver connects to cameras through 3.5mm analogue audio and to phones, tablets and computers through digital USB connections. Camera power synchronisation allows the receiver to switch on and off with compatible cameras, reducing separate power control during recording. When connected to a phone, the receiver can remain attached during speaker playback and can accept external power while the phone is charging. This supports conventional camera, computer and mobile recording setups from the same receiver.

OsmoAudio removes the receiver when working with compatible DJI devices. The Mic Mini 2S transmitter can connect directly to supported Osmo cameras, with settings available through the connected device and internal recording able to follow camera recording status. Bluetooth provides a further direct connection to compatible smartphone applications using one transmitter. The transmitter remembers two receivers and one compatible OsmoAudio camera, reducing the need to pair saved devices repeatedly.

Battery and charging

The transmitter provides up to 11 hours of operation, while the receiver runs for up to 10 hours before recharging. Both components support fast charging, with five minutes of power providing up to one hour of additional use. A full charge takes around 70 minutes for either the transmitter or receiver. The included DJI Mic Mini 2 Transmitter Magnetic Charging Cable charges the transmitter directly, while the USB-C charging cable powers the receiver. This keeps both components independently rechargeable without requiring a charging case.

FAQs:

Can the DJI Mic Mini 2S record more than one person?

This kit includes one transmitter and one Mic Mini 2S Receiver for single-person recording. The receiver can connect to up to four compatible Mic Mini-series transmitters when additional units are added. Stereo mode separates connected microphones across left and right channels, while Mono combines them. Quadraphonic mode can provide four independent channels through compatible Sony cameras using the DJI Mic Series Camera Adapter, or through supported computer software over USB.

What happens if the wireless connection is interrupted?

The transmitter contains 14.5GB of usable internal storage, allowing it to maintain its own recording alongside the wireless feed. It stores up to 28 hours in 24-bit mode or 22 hours in 32-bit float. If the receiver connection drops during automatic recording, the transmitter continues recording internally. Loop recording can replace the oldest files once storage becomes full, keeping the local recording active.

How does 32-bit float internal recording work?

The transmitter records 32-bit float WAV files to its internal storage when the mode is enabled through the DJI Mimo app. The format retains a wider dynamic range than the default 24-bit mode, allowing high or low recorded levels to be adjusted with greater latitude in post-production. It does not remove the physical limits of the microphone capsule or prevent every form of distortion. Enabling 32-bit float reduces available recording time from 28 hours to 22 hours. The feature is disabled by default.

Which devices are compatible with the DJI Mic Mini 2S?

The receiver supports compatible cameras, smartphones, tablets and computers through analogue and digital connections. The supplied USB-C adapter connects it directly to supported mobile devices, while the 3.5mm TRS cable provides an analogue camera connection. Compatible OsmoAudio products can connect directly to the transmitter without the receiver. Direct Bluetooth phone use supports one transmitter and depends on the phone and recording application.

Can the DJI Mic Mini 2S Receiver connect to additional transmitters later?

Yes. The Mic Mini 2S Receiver supports up to four transmitters simultaneously and works with compatible Mic Mini 2S, Mic Mini 2 and Mic Mini transmitters. Additional transmitters can therefore be added when a recording requires more speakers. The receiver keeps the same 400m maximum transmission range with compatible Mic Mini-series transmitters. Four independent output channels require a supported Sony camera connection or compatible computer software over USB.

How long do the transmitter and receiver operate between charges?

The transmitter provides up to 11 hours of operation, while the receiver provides up to 10 hours. Both support fast charging, with five minutes of charging providing up to one hour of additional use. A full charge takes around 70 minutes for either component. The supplied magnetic charging cable powers the transmitter directly, while the receiver charges over USB-C.
