Stabilisation for handheld movement

The DJI Osmo Mobile 8P’s 3-axis gimbal reacts to small changes in your hand position by moving the phone in the opposite direction, so walking shots and pans look steadier than handholding a phone alone. PTF mode follows pan and tilt movements while keeping the roll steadier, which suits everyday filming, plus upward and downward angles. FPV mode lets all three axes follow the handle for more involved movement around a subject. The pan axis can rotate continuously through 360°, so SpinShot and panoramic moves can keep turning rather than stopping halfway through the motion.

Remote framing with Osmo FrameTap

The Osmo FrameTap device gives the DJI Osmo Mobile 8P a more practical way to frame shots when you are filming yourself. When attached to the handle, the screen, joystick, and shutter button sit under your thumb for normal handheld shooting. Detach it, and the phone’s screen can mirror to the device from up to 25m away, while remote control access functions up to 10m. When used with the DJI OM Multifunctional Module 2, Osmo FrameTap can also show the module’s live feed, so you can tap a detection box on the remote screen and start tracking without touching the phone.

Multifunctional Module 2 tracking and fill light

The DJI OM Multifunctional Module 2 expands the DJI Osmo Mobile 8P's ability to follow subjects outside the DJI Mimo app. Once attached, the module can track people, cats, dogs, vehicles and manually selected objects, with the gimbal turning to keep the subject in frame as it moves. For general objects, you can draw or select the subject, and the module follows a clear outline to maintain proper tracking. The module also adds a built-in fill light with eight brightness levels and eight colour-temperature settings, so you can lift faces in low light or soften the look of a close-up self-recording setup.

Extension, tripod and power

The Osmo Mobile 8P’s built-in 215mm extension rod projects the phone further from your hand, so selfie framing has more room and low or overhead angles are easier to reach. The tripod folds out from the rod handle and spreads to a 97mm radius, giving the gimbal a stable, level standing base on flat surfaces. The built-in 3350 mAh battery lasts up to 10 hours when paired with Osmo FrameTap, giving you plenty of time to capture and frame your footage. The USB-C output on the roll axis, or the USB-C port on the Multifunctional Module 2, can also charge your phone via the included cable, which is useful during longer filming sessions.

Tracking through DJI Mimo and Apple DockKit

In the DJI Mimo app, ActiveTrack 8.0 follows a selected person, pet or object by turning the gimbal as the subject moves through the frame. You can start tracking with the trigger, the joystick, a detection box, a drawn box on the phone screen, or with supported hand gestures. Compatible iPhones can also use Apple DockKit, which pairs through NFC and lets the gimbal track people in the native camera app and supported third-party camera apps. DJI Mimo also includes ShotGuides, Timelapse, Motionlapse, Hyperlapse, DynamicZoom, panoramas and one-tap editing, giving you more structured shooting choices when you want guidance.
