The DJI RS Enhanced Intelligent Tracking Module is a compact add-on that enables subject tracking directly from the gimbal, without touching the camera. Once you frame a person, vehicle, or pet on the touchscreen, it keeps them centred as the gimbal moves. For solo operators, it makes orbit shots, backward walks, and locked-off tracking feel controlled and repeatable.

Which gimbals does the tracking module work with?

The module mounts directly to the DJI RS 5 using its built-in magnetic interface. With the supplied adapter mount, it also works with the DJI RS 4 Pro, DJI RS 4, and DJI RS 4 Mini. When using the adapter, the gimbal’s RSS port is occupied, so camera control cables cannot be connected simultaneously.

How do you start tracking a subject?

You can trigger tracking in three ways: from the gimbal trigger, via simple hand gestures, or directly on the gimbal touchscreen. After framing the subject, the module locks on and follows movement smoothly as the gimbal pans or moves.

Does it track multiple subjects at once?

No. When used with RS 4-series gimbals, the module tracks a single, clearly recognisable subject at a time. It performs best in scenes without similar nearby subjects that could confuse the tracking.

Can I see the tracking view on the gimbal screen?

On RS 4, RS 4 Pro, and RS 4 Mini, the tracking view itself is not displayed on the touchscreen. You still select the subject from the screen, but the live tracking overlay is not shown.

What lighting conditions does it need to work reliably?

The module requires ambient light levels above 20 lux. In practice, it works well indoors with typical room lighting or outdoors during the day, but struggles in very dark scenes.

Does adding the module affect balance or battery life?

At around 19g, the module is light enough that it rarely requires rebalancing. Power consumption is approximately 1W, so the impact on overall gimbal runtime is minimal during normal use.
