How much camera gear can the 20L version realistically hold?

The 20L version is sized for a camera body such as a Canon R5, R7, 6D Mark II or 200D II, Sony A7 III, A7R, A7S or FX3, or Nikon Z5, Z6, Z6 II or D780, along with three to five lenses depending on their size. With a carefully configured divider setup, it can also accommodate a DJI Mavic, Air, or Mini series drone in place of some lenses. The rear sleeve fits devices up to a 16-inch MacBook Pro, a 15.6-inch gaming laptop or a 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

Is the side access usable in real situations?

Yes. The side opening lets you swing the bag around on one shoulder and pull the camera straight out without setting the pack down. It works best when you position your main body and attached lens nearest that access panel. For street work or events where moments pass quickly, this setup makes a noticeable difference.
