FAQs

Can I still use the C80’s flip-out screen and top shoe?

Yes. The plates sit clear of the hinge and top housing so that you can open the screen entirely and mount accessories in the camera’s original shoe. Access to the battery and SD card also remains unobstructed.

Does the cage accept the original Canon handle?

It does. The detachable NATO rail features grooves that match the C80’s handle interface, allowing you to mount it on the top or side plates for horizontal or vertical setups.

How does the cage connect to shoulder rigs and bridge plates?

Using both the baseplate and the bottom mount plate increases the distance between mounting threads, matching ARRI BP-8 bridge plates, LWS baseplates and most shoulder rigs. This keeps the camera stable when the rig gets heavier.

Is the cage suitable for gimbal use?

Yes. With the bottom mount plate removed, the baseplate attaches directly to DJI RS-series gimbals. The lighter footprint keeps the C80 easier to balance, especially when working with compact lenses.

What does the HDMI clamp do?

It holds the cable firmly in line with the port so it can’t work loose during takes or when the camera shifts on a rig. This helps maintain a clean signal to external monitors or recorders and reduces wear on the port.
