FAQs

Does the cage block any of the FX3/FX30’s buttons or ports?

No. The cage is form-fitting, so you still reach all ports, doors and controls without shifting your grip. The base features rubber padding to prevent the camera from moving while keeping the body clear of metal.

Can I still use the original Sony XLR handle?

Yes, though you’ll need to remove the included NATO rail before fitting the Sony handle. Once removed, the camera’s audio unit mounts as usual.

How does the V-mount plate integrate with the cage?

The compact plate attaches via the Arca-type quick release, so you can pop it on for tripod work or remove it to keep the rig lighter. You can rotate the plate to open up clearance for the FX3/FX30’s articulated screen.

Is the top handle strong enough for heavier setups?

The NATO Top Handle Lite supports up to 10kg, comfortably covering typical FX3/FX30 rigs with monitors, mics, or a larger battery attached. The silicone-lined grip stays secure even when working in cold conditions.

Can I mount a monitor or magic arm directly to the cage?

Yes. The cage includes ARRI-style anti-twist mounts, 1/4"-20 threads and a cold shoe on the top plate, so you can attach monitor mounts, articulating arms or wireless video units without the risk of them rotating loose.

Does the HDMI clamp work with thicker cables?

The supplied clamp is designed around standard full-size HDMI leads. It tightens enough to prevent the plug from shifting when the camera moves on a gimbal or handheld rig, reducing the risk of signal dropouts.

How heavy is the full cage setup?

The cage itself weighs 296 g. With the handle, plate and rail attached, the build still feels balanced on either a compact tripod head or a handheld grip, so it doesn’t overwhelm the FX3/FX30’s small form factor.
