Can I mount the cage directly onto a camera’s hot shoe?

Yes. The included cold shoe adapter slides straight into a standard shoe mount, allowing you to fix the Osmo Nano module on top of a camera body for reference shots or alternative angles. You can also rotate the adapter to mount the module vertically if your project needs it.

Does the cage cover any of the module’s controls or ports?

No. The frame sits around the camera head without obstructing the lens or the connection point, so you can run the module cable back to the controller as usual. It’s solely designed to protect the module and provide mounting options, not to change how it operates.

How is the adapter positioned?

The shoe adapter fastens to either the side or the base of the cage. Side mounting keeps the module horizontal when the camera is upright, while placing it underneath gives you a vertical orientation. Both positions lock firmly with the included screw.
