How securely does the cage mount to the camera?

The cage uses a three-point locking system, combined with silicone contact pads, to keep the camera firmly aligned and prevent rotation when using handles or mounting heavier accessories. Once installed, the camera does not shift during normal handheld or tripod use.

Can I switch quickly between tripod, gimbal and handheld setups?

Yes. The integrated HawkLock system and Arca-Swiss plate allow fast release and reattachment without removing the cage, making it easier to move between tripod heads, DJI RS series gimbals, and handheld configurations during a shoot.

Does the cage block camera controls or battery access?

No. The cage’s design closely follows the EOS R6 body, leaving buttons, dials, and the battery door accessible. Adjustable elements help prevent port blocking when cables are connected.

Is this kit compatible with other Canon cameras?

This kit is designed specifically for the EOS R6 III and R6 II. The half cage in the wider HawkLock range is also compatible with the Canon R5 II, but the full cage in this kit is model-specific.

Are there any compatibility notes to be aware of?

The kit is not compatible with the DJI RS 4 Mini gimbal. When used with the EOS R6 Mark II and cage 5958, the included cable clamp is not compatible; SmallRig cable clamp 2981B is required for that setup.
