This Sony microphone features a frontal sound collection system that provides clear sound recordings and captures low-frequency bands that characterize human voices. It makes the ECM-G1 a perfect vlogging microphone for selfie videos or for adding to your podcasting equipment to capture the voices of friends and guests.

The ECM-G1 has a large-diameter microphone capsule of 14.6mm so provides clear sound whilst suppressing noise. Thanks to the included windscreen and anti-vibration structure, wind and vibration noise are drastically reduced. If using the microphone with a Sony camera equipped with a Multi-Interface shoe, you can record without cables causing unwanted vibrations.

Frontal Sound Collection

Designed with a supercardioid pickup pattern, the compact microphone suppresses ambient sound while emphasising sounds in front of the camera. A super-cardioid pattern provides better isolation from room noise and nearby sounds, and picks up the best sound from directly in front of the mic. When connected to the MI Shoe of a compatible Sony camera, power is supplied directly from the camera to the microphone. Whilst this means you can record extended shoots without worrying about battery life, the lack of cables means you also don’t have to worry about cables making noises or getting in the way of the shot.

What is a supercardioid pickup pattern?

A microphone with a supercardioid pickup pattern is extremely directional from where the mic is pointing.
