How do you replace the earpads on the Sony MDR-7506’s?
Firstly, pull out the damaged earpad from the plastic gap (this is then where you will need to insert the new cushion lip). Simply insert the earpad lip inside of the top of the ear cup, slowly moving around this edge to fully-insert the cushion lip. A good tip is to put your finger inside the cushion for improved grip. They’re also very flexible so are unlikely to rip.
Are Sony MDR-7506’s leather?
No. The Sony MDR-7506’s are made up of a plastic-based material for additional comfort and improved ergonomics. Their construction has been updated since their original release in 1991, however, these closed-back design headphones still stand as the favourites of many Recording Engineers and other Sound Professionals.
