All you have to do is connect the adapter with a compatible camera or camcorder and it will automatically synchronise with it. After you have attached the adapter, you can turn it on or off with the camera on/off button, saving power.

What if the camera shuts down abruptly since the adapter draws power from it?

You can use an AA alkaline battery to prevent your camera from shutting abruptly while working. Insert the AA batteries in the receiver and set the receiver’s power to (PWR SOURCE) menu feature to BATT ONLY mode. This may avoid unexpected shutdowns while working with the camera.

Do I need to use a separate XLR cable with this adapter?

When using an MI shoe connection with this adapter, the two-channel audio signals from the wireless receiver can directly input to the camera, eliminating the need to use an XLR cable.
