I would like to put the hot shoe mount directly on a shock mount. Does the included hot shoe mount come completely off?

The hot shoe mount is not removable, but the mount comes with a standard 1/4-inch tripod thread. If the shock mount features the same thread, then you could use this to mount the cable to it.
