Doubly Dynamic Microphone

The ZDM-1 is both Dynamic in nature and design. Built as a Dynamic Microphone with a large diaphragm and a maximum 135 dB SPL, the ZDM-1 is designed to capture loud audio that fills a room without distortion and audio clipping. Combined with a super-cardioid polar pattern, this directional microphone doubles as the ideal kit for a clear, focused, broadcast-quality voice that reduces unwanted room noise when working on podcasts and voice over.

Isolated from Interference

Zoom includes two fundamental features to help reduce interference with audio on the ZDM-1. Set inside a shock-absorbing mechanism, the audio capsule is protected from handling noise and ambient vibrations. For extra audio security, Zoom also includes a built-in humbucking circuit that rejects electromagnetic interference caused by power lines, computer monitors, cell phones and other devices.

High-Quality Hardware

Enhancing the ZDM-1’s technical capabilities is the robust, durable design. With an all-metal body and grille, the ZDM-1 is built to withstand frequent, daily use. Included with this microphone are two pieces of hardware for added convenience. The Pivoting Mic Stand Mount and Threaded European Mic Stand Adaptor provide easy customisation for combining your mic with other accessories such as boom arms, mic stands and other tripods.

What kind of audio is a Dynamic Microphone for?

Dynamic microphones have low sensitivity and a higher gain threshold. These large diaphragm mics are suitable for capturing guitar amplifiers, loud vocals, snare drums and toms, keyboards and brass instruments. Condenser microphones are suited to lighter audio capture such as vocals, bass drums, acoustic guitars, ambient sound and piano.

What is the max sound pressure level for the ZDM-1?

The ZDM-1 can handle up to 135 dB SPL which is equivalent to a jackhammer being a couple of inches away from the microphone.

What kind of connector does this have? Is a cable included?

The ZDM-1 has a 3-pin XLR connector. Cables are not provided with this microphone and will need to be purchased separately.

Does this microphone have an internal pop filter?

A Custom Foam Windscreen is supplied with the ZDM-1 to minimise breezes and pops. The ZDM-1 does not feature an internal pop filter.
