FAQs:
Is the Solarus-80 safe to use for direct solar viewing?
Yes. The telescope uses a permanently mounted glass white-light solar filter that meets ISO 12312-2:2015 transmission requirements for direct solar observation. Because the filter is fixed in place, there is no risk of accidental removal during use. As with any solar telescope, it should always be used exactly as instructed. Never attempt to view the Sun without the supplied filter in position.
What does the colour filter wheel do?
The built-in wheel lets you change the colour balance of the Sun to suit your eyes and conditions. Different filters can make sunspots, granulation and surface contrast stand out more clearly. It is not about adding colour for effect, but about improving the visibility of subtle detail. An included empty slot enables neutral, filterless white-light viewing.
How does the Solarquest auto-tracking mount find the Sun safely?
The mount uses patented solar alignment technology with a dedicated solar sensor and built-in GPS. After roughly levelling the tripod, a single button press lets the mount calculate the Sun’s position from time and location data. It then slews automatically until the sensor detects the Sun and locks on. Once centred, the mount tracks silently, keeping the Sun in view without manual adjustment.
Can beginners use this setup without prior astronomy experience?
Yes. The system removes much of the complexity usually associated with solar observing. Automatic levelling, solar detection, and tracking mean users do not need to align or search for the Sun manually, making it suitable for education settings as well as first-time observers. More experienced users will also appreciate the convenience during longer observing sessions.

Buy now pay later
The Buy Now Pay Later option comprises a 36 month loan following a six month deferral period.
During the six-month deferral period, it is possible to pay off the loan, either by way of a lump sum or in smaller amounts. If the loan is partially repaid within six months, the remaining interest will be adjusted to reflect the new balance. If the loan is fully repaid within the six-month deferral period, then no interest is payable, however, a £29 early settlement fee is payable in respect of repayments within these six months.
Following the six-month deferral period, Novuna Personal Finance will initiate a monthly direct debit payment for the remaining duration of the loan. Interest will be charged at a rate of 18.9% APR (representative) on outstanding balances (backdated to the first date of the loan). Novuna Personal Finance will send a reminder letter approximately one month before the six-month deferral period is due to elapse.
