Recording and codec support
The Ninja TX records up to 8Kp30 in Apple ProRes RAW, with additional support for DNx, H.265, H.264, and NDI formats included as standard. These formats are hardware-enabled from day one with no activation fees, making the Ninja TX ready for professional broadcast and cinematic delivery straight out of the box. It supports proxy recording for fast turnaround and direct upload to the cloud.
Input and output options
With both 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 input and output, the Ninja TX supports a wide range of camera systems and display pipelines. HDMI supports 8K30, 4K60, and 1080p120, while SDI handles 4K60 workflows. It offers loop-through on both HDMI and SDI, with real-time SDI/HDMI cross-conversion to suit studio, field, and multicam environments.
Wireless and camera-to-cloud
The Ninja TX features integrated Wi-Fi 6, enabling direct camera-to-cloud uploads to ATOMOSphere, Frame.io, and Dropbox. It supports NDI 6 HX3 transmission and reception for real-time monitoring over IP. It also includes AirGlu timecode sync over RF or Bluetooth, allowing you to maintain synchronisation across monitors, cameras, and audio recorders without additional hardware.
Touchscreen display and operability
A 1500nit, 10-bit HDR touchscreen provides clear, colour-accurate monitoring even in direct sunlight. The AtomOS interface allows access to advanced monitoring tools, including EL Zone, ARRI False Colour, 3D/1D LUTs, HLG, and PQ. Locking HDMI and USB-C adaptors ensure uninterrupted connections, while onboard controls and over-the-air firmware make configuration simple in the field.
Power and media options
Ninja TX supports high-speed CFexpress Type B cards and qualified USB-C SSDs for reliable, high-throughput recording. It draws power via USB-C PD, standard NP-F batteries, or a lockable DC battery eliminator, supporting input ranges from 6.2V to 16.8V. Dual USB-C ports enable simultaneous use of power and media, as well as calibration devices, with additional supported functions expected in future updates.

FAQs:
Can I use the Atomos Ninja TX for live streaming over a network?
The Ninja TX includes NDI 6 HX3 transmission and reception as standard, allowing you to stream or monitor video over IP networks using standard Wi-Fi or Ethernet infrastructure. This feature makes it suitable for live production environments and remote monitoring setups, eliminating the need for external transmitters or receivers.
Does the Ninja TX require additional activation for codecs or features?
No. All supported codecs, including Apple ProRes RAW, DNx, H.265, H.264, and NDI, are preloaded and active at purchase. Firmware updates are applied wirelessly via OTA (over-the-air) with AtomOS Linux, eliminating the need for SD card updates or extra licences.
Can I record directly to USB-C SSDs?
The Ninja TX includes dual USB-C ports, which support direct recording to qualified USB-C SSDs. This offers a flexible alternative to CFexpress Type B cards and is also helpful for fast offloading or direct editing from external drives.
Is the Ninja TX compatible with older Atomos accessories, such as AtomX modules?
No. The Ninja TX does not have an AtomX expansion slot. This was a deliberate design choice to keep the unit compact and lightweight. However, its USB-C ports offer a flexible path for future expansion, including storage, calibration tools, and potentially audio or networking devices.
What are the power options for the Atomos Ninja TX?
The Ninja TX can be powered using standard NP-F style batteries, via USB-C Power Delivery (PD), or through a DC battery eliminator (6.2V–16.8V). This ensures broad compatibility with power banks, wall adapters, and D-Tap solutions for both field and studio use.
