Wireless Monitoring
The Shinobi 7 RX integrates Wi-Fi 6E technology to receive video from compatible Atomos TX devices with less than 60 ms delay, enabling responsive and reliable on-set monitoring. This low-latency connection makes it practical for use by directors, focus pullers, or clients who need real-time feedback without additional cabling. HDMI and SDI loop-out functions allow the wireless feed to extend further, ensuring the same image is viewable across multiple monitors in different positions on set. By combining wireless reception with professional-grade monitoring tools, the Shinobi 7 RX bridges the gap between compact on-camera displays and dedicated video village systems.
HDR Display Performance
The 7-inch panel offers a 1920x1080 resolution with a brightness of 2200 nits, making it visible even in direct sunlight. It displays 10+ stops of HDR, supporting PQ and HLG formats as well as SDR workflows, giving crews confidence in both standard and high dynamic range environments. Built-in options include anamorphic de-squeeze, cine and social frame guides, safe areas, and display flip, ensuring accurate framing across multiple production styles. The screen can be calibrated using Calibrite Display Pro or Display Plus for colour accuracy, helping align the monitor with grading displays and ensuring exposure and colour remain consistent across the production.
Professional Analysis Tools
Shinobi 7 RX includes a full suite of exposure and focus aids, designed to provide accurate on-set analysis. EL Zone and ARRI false colour give precise feedback on exposure, while waveform, histogram, and RGB parade help visualise luminance and colour distribution. Vectorscope and zebra overlays further refine monitoring, and focus peaking with up to 4x zoom ensures critical sharpness when pulling focus. The monitor also supports LUTs in .cube format at 17- and 33-point precision, with options to compare images in a 50/50 view or apply LUTs to downstream outputs. These features make it a dependable reference not only for operators but also for crews managing colour pipelines during production.
Power and Construction
The monitor is designed with flexibility in mind, offering dual NP-F battery slots with hot-swapping capabilities, as well as a USB-C Power Delivery input of up to 45 W for extended operation. A 13 W PD output supports small accessories, while an optional battery eliminator provides DC input for continuous powering. Passive heat-sink cooling ensures completely silent performance with no internal fan, which is critical when monitoring on quiet sets. At 580 g, with a rugged ABS polycarbonate body and anti-rotation 1/4-inch mounts on both top and bottom, the Shinobi 7 RX is lightweight yet durable, suited to rigs from handheld cameras through to larger production setups.

FAQs
Does the Atomos Shinobi 7 RX record video?
No, the Shinobi 7 RX does not record video. It is designed purely as a professional monitor and wireless receiver, displaying HDMI or SDI signals and passing them downstream if required. Recording functions are reserved for Atomos Ninja and Shogun devices, which can be paired with the Shinobi 7 RX when capture is needed.
Can I control my camera directly from the Shinobi 7 RX?
Yes, the Shinobi 7 RX supports camera control via its USB-C connection on compatible models. You can adjust core parameters such as aperture, ISO, and white balance, and even use touch-to-focus functionality on cameras that support it. The specific functions available depend on the camera manufacturer and model, so checking compatibility before use is recommended.
What connectivity options are available on the Shinobi 7 RX?
The monitor includes HDMI 2.0 input and output, 3G-SDI input and 12G-SDI output, a USB-C port for camera control, calibration, and power delivery, plus a 3.5 mm headphone jack for audio monitoring. It supports up to 8-channel embedded 24-bit audio over HDMI and 12-channel embedded 24-bit audio over SDI. Downstream outputs can also carry applied LUTs for matching external monitors.
Can I power the Shinobi 7 RX on location?
The Shinobi 7 RX can be powered by two hot-swappable NP-F batteries for continuous operation during long shoots. It also accepts USB-C Power Delivery input up to 45 W and can output up to 13 W of power to small accessories.
