The BirdDog P400 is a wholly versatile PTZ camera that can provide up to 4K30/1080p60 NDI/IP video thanks to its 1/2.5" 8.5MP Sony CMOS Backlit Sensor. This powerful imaging sensor would be nothing without the P400's flexible optical system which is equipped with 20x optical, 12x digital zoom and a further 30x superzoom in 4K and 40x superzoom in 1080p. The versatile doesn't stop there - the P400 is rich with connectivity options including simultaneous NDI, 6G-SDI port and HDMI active output. Additionally, you're afforded intuitive remote control of your PTZ via IR, RS-232/422485, VISCA or IP Control. The BirdDog P400 is able to provide consistently high-quality and professional video footage thanks to its 1/2.5" 8.5MP Sony CMOS Backlit Sensor. It's this sensor and accompanying technology that offers crisp and smooth video capture up to 4K30/1080p60 NDI/IP Video. The fact that the P400 is a Full NDI camera means that it benefits from variable bit rates and an I-Frame codec that offers 140Mbits at 1080p60, as well as supporting each and every standard frame rate including 29.97.

In addition to the impressive video are the P400's optical structure and capabilities. The lens itself features a flexible 20x optical which is accompanied by a 12x digital zoom. You then have access to a further 30x SRZ (Super Resolution Zoom) in 4K and 40x SRZ in 1080p HD. Together, this provides you with a huge range for any production where you need to get closer to your subject without sacrificing image quality. As well as this, The P400 is equipped with a powerful image stabiliser which further increases the overall video quality.

The P400 is afforded a range of remote control options including NDI, VISCA over IP, RS-422/RS-232 options in SDI, and an included IR controller. There's also the option to use the separately-sold BirdDog PTZ Keyboard controller which you can use to control up to 255 cameras on a single network. When it comes to camera movement, like all BirdDog PTZ cameras, the P400 features precision and super-sensitive robotics that make for smooth and fluid movements. The advanced robotics allows you to effortlessly pan and tilt for dramatic panning shots. As important as fluid movement is, the P400 offers important colour and gamma settings. You have enhanced control over colour with user-selectable gamma settings and black gamma adjustment.

BirdDog offer a range of free BirdDog software that is designed to help you optimise the operation of your PTZ. Amongst a range of minor differences, the main differences between the BirdDog P4K and the P400 are the the zoom capabilities. Whilst the P4K offers a 12x optical zoom, 18x digital zoon in 4K and 24x in FHD, the P400 offers a 20x optical zoom, 12x digital zoom, 30x SPZ in 4K and 40x SPZ in 1080p HD.
